Pill Millipede answered on 22 Nov 2017:

The pill millipede is involved in a little ”chemical warfare’ as they secrete a fluid which repels potential predators. It is a defense mechanism which is used in the cases where rolling up into a ball to protect their more fragile underside is not going to work. Though some other tropical species of millipede release cyanide (Harpaphe haydeniana) which is a harmful toxin.
